FarmPay is a fintech platform that enables farmers to receive payments and manage records via mobile devices, integrated with MPesa for instant transactions.
The Challenge
The platform needed to support offline functionality for rural areas and ensure secure, instant payments. A simple UI was critical for farmers with varying tech literacy.
The Solution
I developed a React Native app with offline-first capabilities using Appwrite’s backend. MPesa integration handled payments, and a Next.js admin dashboard (TailwindCSS) provided oversight. Progressive Web App (PWA) features ensured accessibility.
The Results
FarmPay onboarded 8,000 farmers in six months, with 95% transaction success. Offline usage accounted for 30% of interactions, and user training time dropped by 50% due to the intuitive UI. The client expanded to two new regions.
