HeirAid is an AI-powered legal-tech platform designed to address heirs' property issues and generational wealth challenges in underserved communities. Led a multidisciplinary team to victory in Microsoft's competitive hackathon.
The Challenge
Heirs' property issues affect millions of families, with complex legal processes and limited access to legal resources. The platform needed to integrate responsible AI practices while handling sensitive legal and financial data with privacy compliance.
The Solution
Architected secure backend systems integrating Responsible AI practices for data handling and privacy compliance. Built advanced NLP pipelines for title data analysis and tax issue detection using Generative AI techniques (RAG, prompt tuning). Collaborated with legal experts to ensure accuracy and real-world impact.
The Results
🏆 Won Second Place out of 49 projects with 231 participants, earning $5,000 prize. Delivered a working MVP within 72 hours that was praised by Microsoft judges for innovation, impact, and execution. Platform successfully demonstrated AI-powered legal document analysis and community-focused solutions.
